Facility to offer convenient, high-quality care at no cost to Batesville Employees
BATESVILLE, Ind., March 3, 2017 – Batesville Casket and its parent company, Hillenbrand, Inc.(NYSE: HI), broke ground today on a new Health and Wellness Center that will provide wellness and primary care at no cost to eligible employees in the Manchester, Tennessee area. Operated through a partnership with QuadMed, a leading provider of employee-sponsored healthcare management solutions, the 7,700 square foot health and wellness center is scheduled for completion in late summer. The facility is being developed by Brock Construction of McMinnville, Tennessee.

Recognized across the country for its high-quality burial caskets, Batesville employs more than 450 people in this area in a variety of manufacturing, logistics, sales, customer service, and marketing roles. One of the hallmarks of the company is a spirit of innovation that drives it to find better, more efficient ways to do things. In this case, Batesville is using an innovative approach to provide more convenient, affordable care to employees and their families who are on a company medical plan with onsite health and wellness centers.
“Our health and wellness centers remove many of the barriers and frustrations that can prevent people from seeking the care they need,” said Mari Jo Moody, Vice President of Human Resources for Batesville. “There are no insurance forms to complete, no co-pays or coinsurance and perhaps most importantly, the center is convenient to use.”
In fact, convenience is one of the most attractive benefits to Batesville employees. They can schedule an appointment online or via a call center, get in to see a doctor quickly without unnecessary wait times, fill prescriptions, and be back to work in less than an hour – and without ever opening their wallets. The health and wellness center does not replace traditional health plans, but is offered as an additional benefit to employees and designed to be used in conjunction with existing health plans.
Since opening its first Hillenbrand Health and Wellness Center in 2010 at the corporate headquarters in Batesville, Indiana, parent Hillenbrand has seen its investment pay off in a number of areas. “We are true believers that healthcare costs are lower when prevention is more convenient,” explains Julie Joerger, Director – Global HR Services for Hillenbrand. “We have lower healthcare claims in locations where our employees and their dependents have access to a health and wellness center, higher medical compliance when people regularly receive the needed preventive care and maintenance medications to keep them healthy, and lower absentee rates.”
While the new center will carry the Hillenbrand name, QuadMed has developed a unique sharing model that allows other industrial partners to provide access to their employees. Local industries and organizations interested in learning more about the center can contact Jennifer Quadracci, Business Development Relationship Manager, at 414.566.8085.
