Frequently Asked Questions

Do all Batesville products qualify for the Living Memorial program?

All burial and cremation caskets qualify for the Living Memorial program. This also includes cremation containers, cardboard containers, rental caskets and inserts, full size urns, memento chests, and urn vaults. Memorial keepsake items and remembrance jewelry do not qualify. Please see your funeral professional for additional details.

The following products do not qualify:

· Keepsake & miniature urns (full size urns are included)

· Memorialization items purchased separately

(remembrance jewelry and medallions are excluded)

If my family purchases multiple products for a service, do we receive a Living Memorial for each product purchased?

No, the program is not based on the number of products your family purchases. The Living Memorial honors a single life by planting a single tree.

Are there any costs for the Living Memorial?

The Living Memorial is an outward expression of Batesville’s mission of helping families honor the lives of those they love.® There are no costs to the funeral home or your family. Batesville covers all expenses associated with the Living Memorial program.

Where are trees planted?

Living Memorial planting locations are determined by our partners, based on the areas of greatest need. Typically, these are national forests and woodlands that have suffered from fire, drought, floods, or other natural disasters.

Trees are not marked with plaques and are not identifiable to an individual or family. However, there is comfort in knowing that a loved one has been memorialized in a way that benefits our ecosystem by providing shelter to birds and wildlife, resistance to wind and water erosion, and contributing to the purity of our air.
