Joe Raver, president and CEO of Hillenbrand, Inc. and Chris Trainor, president of Batesville, joined the Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA) at a press conference on Thursday, September 21, 2017. The event was a call to action for the Indiana General Assembly to participate in local Manufacturing Day activities in their areas, and to make the 2018 Legislative session a “workforce focused” session.

Brian Barton, president and CEO of the IMA, explained that 30% of Indiana’s economic output is generated from manufacturing, and workforce continues to be the largest barrier to growth and expansion. He believes the state needs to do more done to make our workforce system truly employer driven, and is calling on legislators to help.

Joe Raver stated, “It is critically important that all of us – business, education and government – work together to attract, develop and retain a workforce that supports our ability to compete and thrive on a global basis. We need a coordinated effort in order to effectively develop our system and future workforce.”

Other major manufacturers joining with the IMA included: Aero Industries, Amatrol, Inc., AT&T, Dart Controls, Inc., Duke Energy, Ford Meter Box, Fort Wayne Metals Research Products, Grote Industries, Kimball Electronics, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana.

Manufacturing Day, which will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017, is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
